HCS (Ex. Br.) & other Allied Services Preliminary Examination 2014 held on August 3 has been challenged in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on the grounds that the question papers were only printed in English language in violation of the instructions for printing bilingual papers.
- The examination conducted by Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) was notified in Februaru, 2014 for 55 posts.
- Amit Kumar, a Hisar resident, informed the court he that had been a Hindi medium student up to his postgraduation and was taken by surprise to see that the question papers were set only in English, when the notification clearly mentions that the question paper will be printed bilingually that is Hindi (being regional language) and English except language papers.
- Advocate Sajjan Singh Malik, appearing for the petitioner, submitted that the HPSC's act was in clear violation of its own advertisement and instructions issued on February 20. Thus the petitioner has suffered irreparable loss as he prepared for the prelims exam in Hindi as was provided in the advertisement, it was submitted.
- The petitioner has now sought directions for quashing of the preliminary examination and to stay the further process during the pendency of the petition in the high court.
