The Indian Navy is inviting applications for the post of Navik (General Duty) in the Indian Coast Guard which is an Armed Force service of the Union. Last date for application is 29 January.

Eligibility:

The candidate applying for the post should have passed 10+2 with 60% marks aggregate in total and minimum 60% in each subject of Maths and Physics from an education board recognized by Central/ State Government. ( A maximum 5% relaxation in the aggregate marks of the above percentage for SC/ ST candidates, sports person of National level (Interstate and above) and wards of Coast Guard uniform personnel deceased while in service will be provided)
The Minimum age of the applicant should be 18 Years and maximum 22 years 
There is an upper age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.
The candidate should be an unmarried male and an Indian national. 

Salary: Scale of Pay for the post is Rs. 5200 - 20200 along with Rs.  2000 Grade Pay. In addition, Dearness Allowance, Kit Maintenance Allowance and other liberal allowances will be admissible.

Selection procedure

The selection process begins with short listing the candidate on the basis of their marks secured in Class 10 and 12 examinations. SC and ST candidates will be given due weightage while short listing.
The shortlisted candidates will then have to appear for a written test which will be objective type and will cover subjects such as Maths, Physics, basic Chemistry, knowledge of English upto 12th standard, general knowledge, current affairs, quantitative aptitude and reasoning.
Candidates who qualify the written test will then have to appear for Physical Fitness Test and Initial Medical Examination (Preliminary). Candidates belonging to the physically handicapped category are not eligible to apply for this examination.

The Physical Fitness Test will consist:
  • 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes.
  • 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak).
  • 10 Push ups. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk.
After qualifying the Physical fitness test candidates will have to undergo initial recruitment medical examination at the respective recruitment centers or the alternative venue decided by the Coast Guard.
Selection of candidates is based on the order of merit depending on their performance in Written Test, Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and fitness in the Medical Examination.
